About the Beech Bonanza 36 (Turbo)
Overview
The Beechcraft Bonanza B36TC is a high-performance, turbocharged single-engine aircraft produced from 1982 to 2002. It combines the A36 fuselage with the longer wings of the Baron 58; the wing stretch increases fuel capacity, and turbocharging extends the service ceiling above the earlier A36TC.
Key Features for GA Buyers
- Range. The 102-gallon usable fuel capacity supports 1,000+ nm trips with reserves.
- High-altitude performance. Turbocharging allows efficient cruising in the flight levels, up to FL250.
- Cabin-class seating. Built on the A36 fuselage, the B36TC seats six with club seating and the A36’s signature right-side double doors, a layout rare among single-engine pistons.
Trade-offs
- Unpressurized. Despite its high service ceiling, it requires supplemental oxygen for all occupants at high altitudes.
- Engine management. The Continental TSIO-520-UB requires careful thermal management to avoid cylinder head temperature (CHT) issues.
- Hangar requirements. The nearly 38-foot wingspan is significantly wider than standard Bonanzas, which may complicate hangarage in smaller T-hangars.

- Piper M350 (Malibu) – pressurized step-up; same flight-levels altitudes without the supplemental-oxygen overhead. Compare
- Mooney M20K Encore (252) – smaller, faster turbocharged single with comparable altitudes but a tighter cabin. Compare
- Beechcraft Baron 58 – Beech step-up to a twin; similar cruise speeds, redundant power, double the operating cost. Compare
