About the Praetor 600
Overview
The Praetor 600 is Embraer’s super-midsize flagship, the long-range development of the Legacy 500 airframe certified in 2019. It shares the EMB-550 type certificate with the Legacy 450/500 and Praetor 500, but adds full-rated Honeywell HTF7500E engines, aerodynamic winglets, and additional belly-tank fuel to turn the platform into a genuine ocean-crosser: 4,018 nm of range, enough for New York to London or São Paulo to Miami nonstop. It remains the only aircraft in its class with full fly-by-wire flight controls and active turbulence reduction.
Key Features for GA Buyers
Intercontinental range. At 4,018 nm with four passengers it reaches across oceans that stop most super-mids, holding a high-speed cruise near Mach 0.83 (Vmo 320 KIAS).
Fly-by-wire and ride quality. Sidestick fly-by-wire with active turbulence reduction gives a ride and a workload profile unmatched in the segment, and the six-foot flat-floor cabin is among the most spacious midsize interiors.
Short-field reach. Strong runway performance opens restrictive airports like London City and Aspen that many intercontinental jets cannot use.
Trade-offs
- Acquisition and operating cost. It commands a significant premium over the Legacy 500, and its higher MTOW raises landing and handling fees at some airports.
- Two-crew, program-maintained. Like all aircraft in the class it is a two-pilot, enrolled-engine-program airplane; budget for crew and the Honeywell MSP hourly rate rather than a piston-style overhaul fund.
