Overview
Remos Aircraft was a German manufacturer of high-end carbon-fiber Light-Sport aircraft, best known for the Remos GX and its folding-wing design. New-airframe production has ended: Remos was acquired by Stemme in 2023, and the brand and its fleet are now supported by Stemme Production GmbH rather than an active production line.
Heritage
Remos entered the US Light-Sport market in the late 1990s with the G3, a factory-built S-LSA, and followed it with the GX in 2009 and later the fuel-injected GXiS and GXNXT developments. The aircraft earned a reputation for a light, comfortable, easy-handling airframe with an unusual folding-wing feature. After financial difficulty the company was acquired by the German motor-glider maker Stemme in 2023, at which point new production ceased and the brand passed to Stemme Production GmbH.
Design Signature
Remos built around one idea, executed well: the Remos GX, a carbon-monocoque high-wing two-seater whose wings fold back along the fuselage without disconnecting the controls, letting an owner trailer or compactly hangar it. A high useful load for the class and a standard airframe parachute on most US models rounded out the package.
For Owners
The GX is a used-market aircraft. New production has ended, and brand and parts support are now carried by Stemme Production GmbH. The type retains a following for its folding-wing convenience and comfort, but a buyer should treat it as a pre-owned purchase and confirm parts lead times and service support for the specific serial before committing.
