Overview
Pilatus Aircraft is a Swiss manufacturer based in Stans, renowned for building some of the most capable single-engine turboprops and light jets in general aviation. It is best known for the PC-12 – the best-selling pressurized turboprop single in the world – and the PC-24 “Super Versatile Jet,” both of which carry Pilatus’s signature ability to work short, unpaved runways that close out their rivals.
Heritage
Founded in 1939, Pilatus spent its early decades building trainers and the legendary PC-6 Turbo Porter, a STOL utility aircraft produced from 1959 to 2022 in one of the longest production runs in aviation history. The PC-7 and PC-9 turboprop trainers established the company as a global military-training supplier, and the PC-12, launched in 1994, transformed it into a business-aviation leader. The PC-24, certified in 2017, extended that reputation into the jet class. Pilatus remains independent and Swiss-owned, building every aircraft at Stans.
